The WORX WG829 is a cordless yard sprayer with a 2-gallon tank. A battery-driven pump replaces the hand-pumping that ordinary garden sprayers need, so you can spray fertilizer, weed killer or insect spray over a larger area with less effort. It runs on WORX's 20V Power Share batteries.
How the automatic pump works
A hand-pump sprayer needs you to build up pressure and top it up again as you work. The WG829 has a pump that pressurizes the tank automatically, giving a continuous spray. WORX says the pump uses an air compressor, so the air pushes the liquid out and the pump itself never touches what is in the tank.
That design has a practical benefit: WORX says the pump can be used with other tanks without worrying about cross-contamination, for example one tank for fertilizer and another for weed killer. It adds that the pump's thread is common among manual-pump yard sprayers, so it should fit tanks from many other brands. It also lists compatibility with the WORX 5L tank (WA4028). Check the thread and fit before relying on this with a tank you already own.
Handling and comfort
The kit includes a spray wand with a variable nozzle and a lock-on/off feature, so you don't need to hold a trigger down continuously. The wand stores on the sprayer, which helps with cleanup and carrying. A shoulder strap harness spreads the weight, which helps over longer jobs. A 2-gallon tank holds roughly 7.5 litres, and when full it adds noticeable weight.
A pressure release valve lets you vent internal pressure before refilling or cleaning, which is a sensible step before opening any pressurized tank.
Power Share batteries
The WG829 uses WORX Power Share batteries, which the brand says are compatible with its 20V, 40V and 80V tools and outdoor products. The kit includes a 2.0Ah battery and a 4-amp charger. If you already own Power Share batteries, WORX also lists a version without a battery (WG829.9). Run time depends on the battery, the nozzle setting and how you spray.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners with medium-to-large lawns and gardens, anyone who finds a manual pump tiring, and people who already own WORX 20V tools. For a few pots on a balcony, a small hand sprayer may be enough.
What to check before you buy
- Chemicals: read the label of anything you spray, and the sprayer's manual, for compatible materials, protective equipment and rinsing.
- Tank size: a 2-gallon tank is easy to carry but means more refills on big areas.
- Battery platform: check whether you already have Power Share batteries.
- Other tanks: confirm that thread and fit match if you plan to reuse tanks.
- Dedicated use: keep sprayers for weed killer separate from those for fertilizer or other products, and clean after use as instructed.
- Storage: check where the wand, strap and battery will live between uses.
