The VEVOR DT031 is a hub-style pop-up ice fishing shelter with a 60 x 60 inch (about 1.5 x 1.5 m) floor area and 24 square feet of space. It gives you a windbreak and a darker interior while you fish through the ice. It folds down into a bag with backpack straps for carrying.
Fabric and weather resistance
The shelter uses 300D Oxford fabric with a 3-layer black PU coating. VEVOR says that gives resistance to wind, water and cold, and strongly blocks light. A dark interior is often preferred for ice fishing because it cuts glare on the ice and makes it easier to see down the hole. The listing is candid about one limit: the joints are sewn with needle and thread, so there may be slight leakage at the seams during heavy snow or heavy rain.
Pop-up design
Hub-style tents have a central hub system of poles that spring out when released. VEVOR says setup and takedown take only a few steps. In general, that matters on a cold lake, where fiddling with poles in gloves is unpleasant.
Staying put in wind
The frame is reinforced at the corners, and the tent comes with 8 ice anchors and 4 wind ropes. The anchors go through tie-down loops on an extra-wide skirt. A wide skirt can also be weighted with snow or gear to help seal out draughts. On open ice, wind can be strong, so anchor the shelter properly every time.
Windows, door and storage
A removable window panel gives adjustable ventilation, and VEVOR says the design reduces leak risk. A zipper door makes it easy to get in and out, and an internal storage bag keeps small items organised. Ventilation matters whenever you use a heater inside a shelter; follow the heater's manual and the shelter's instructions, and never leave a heater unattended.
Size, weight and carrying
The packed shelter dimensions are listed at 59.1 x 59.1 x 65.0 inches when set up, with a weight of 14.6 lb (about 6.6 kg). It packs into a large tote bag with backpack straps, so you can carry it onto the ice with your other gear. Sleds are typical for hauling gear on the ice.
Who it suits
It suits one or two anglers who want a quick, light shelter. A 60-inch square gives limited space for several people plus buckets and a heater, so group fishing may call for something larger.
What to check before you buy
- Space: 60 x 60 inches can feel tight with two people, chairs and gear.
- Seams: the listing notes possible leakage at seams in heavy snow or rain, so plan for that.
- Ice safety: check ice thickness and local rules before going out.
- Anchoring: make sure you can drive anchors into the ice, and have tools to do so.
- Heating and ventilation: check the manual and your heater's instructions before using any heat source indoors.
- Carrying: consider the weight and how you will move it to your fishing spot.
