The KING BIRD GH1313G is a walk-in tunnel greenhouse measuring 10 feet long, 6.6 feet wide and 6.6 feet high (about 3.0 x 2.0 x 2.0 m). It gives a gardener a sheltered growing space for starting seedlings early, protecting plants from wind and rain, and extending the season. It's a light structure rather than a permanent glasshouse, so it suits people who want flexibility.
The steel frame
The frame is galvanized steel. KING BIRD gives the tube thickness as 0.7 mm and says that's thicker than the 0.35-0.6 mm it describes as common. There are two diagonal and eight vertical poles at the base to stiffen the structure. Galvanizing is a zinc coating that typically slows rust, which matters for something left outdoors.
Ground stakes and guy ropes are included to hold it down. Tunnel-style greenhouses present a lot of surface to the wind, so anchoring is important, and it is worth following the manual and securing it well in exposed spots.
The cover
The cover is 150 g/sqm woven (grid) polyethylene, described as waterproof and UV Index 6 protected. The brand says this makes it last longer than greenhouses with lower UV protection levels, and that the cover fits the frame closely to improve warmth and wind resistance. Double seams are meant to reduce tearing. As with any plastic cover, real-world life depends on sun exposure, weather and how it is cared for.
Ventilation and doors
Six roll-up screen windows and two screen doors let you manage heat and humidity. The brand says this helps warm plants in early spring, ventilates on hot days and retains warmth in winter. Ventilation matters because a closed plastic greenhouse can get very hot in sun.
Each door has two layers, a PE cover and an insect screen, each on its own zipper. You can close the PE for warmth or open it and leave the screen closed for air that keeps insects out. The brand says the zippers are upgraded for a longer life.
Size, weight and setup
The greenhouse weighs 40.5 lb (about 18 kg), light for its size, which is helpful for assembly and for moving it. A 10-foot length gives room for a few beds, pots or shelving along each side. KING BIRD calls the length suitable for beginners growing vegetables and flowers at home.
Who it suits
It suits home gardeners who want to start plants earlier, protect crops from rain and wind, or keep tender plants through cool weather. It is less suited to heavy snow-load or severe-wind sites unless set up carefully, and a glass or polycarbonate structure may suit those better.
What to check before you buy
- Footprint: measure the ground, including space for walking around it.
- Ground: check you can drive stakes in, or whether a different anchoring method is needed.
- Wind and snow: consider local weather and how you would take it down or secure it.
- Ventilation: plan how you will open vents on hot days.
- Support: check what the brand's service and replacement parts cover.
