The VEVOR CM9428C-UL is a 12-cup drip coffee maker with a touch screen and a programmable timer. It is aimed at households and small gatherings that want a full pot ready at a set time. Here is what its features mean in everyday use.
Capacity and heating
The reservoir holds 60 oz, and VEVOR says it brews up to 12 cups. Note that a "cup" in coffee makers is usually a small measure of about 5 oz, so 12 cups is closer to a large pot than twelve mugs. Heating comes from a 900W U-shaped aluminum heating tube, which VEVOR says gives fast, even brewing. The unit measures 10.4 x 6.9 x 12.4 inches and weighs about 3.8 lb, so it takes up modest counter space.
Programming and the touch screen
An LCD touch screen controls the machine. A 24-hour timer lets you load water and grounds the night before and have coffee ready when you wake. Many people find this the most useful feature in a drip machine, as long as the grounds sit dry in the basket until brewing starts.
Bold and iced modes
There are two brew strengths. Bold mode typically slows the brew so water spends longer in contact with the grounds, giving a stronger cup. VEVOR also lists an iced mode, which in general brews a more concentrated batch so that it stays flavourful when poured over ice. Check the manual for exactly how each mode changes the cycle.
Keep warm
The warming function holds coffee at about 72°C (161°F) for up to 4 hours, with a default of 2 hours. Coffee left on heat for long periods tends to taste more bitter, so many people move leftovers to an insulated flask if they won't drink them soon.
Cleaning reminder
After every 100 uses, the machine flashes an alert to descale. You add a descaling solution to the tank and run the clean mode. Regular descaling removes mineral build-up, which matters most in areas with hard water.
Materials
The carafe is high borosilicate glass, which VEVOR describes as heat- and impact-resistant and suitable for iced coffee pours. The rest uses food-grade stainless steel and PP plastic. Borosilicate resists thermal shock well, but any glass can break if knocked or dropped.
Who it suits
It suits families, shared offices and anyone who hosts and wants a large batch from a simple machine. It doesn't make single cups, so those who drink one mug a day may prefer a smaller brewer.
What to check before you buy
- Volume: decide how many mugs you need, remembering the "cup" measure.
- Filter type: check which filter or basket the machine uses and whether it is included.
- Counter and cupboard height: it stands about 12.4 inches tall; check clearance when filling.
- Power: it draws 900W, so avoid sharing an outlet with other high-power appliances.
- Water hardness: harder water means more frequent descaling.
- Spare parts: check how to replace the carafe if needed.
