The VEVOR BQL-9200ST is a countertop soft serve machine for small food businesses. It makes one flavour at a time from a liquid mix, using a built-in compressor, and has a touch screen for control. It is a commercial machine, so it is bigger and heavier than the home ice cream makers you may be used to.
Output and capacity
VEVOR rates the machine at up to 10 L (10.6 US quarts) of ice cream per hour. It has a 4 L (4.2 qt) hopper for the mix and a 1.6 L freezing cylinder. VEVOR says it can deliver 4 to 6 servings of 80 g continuously, and that the first batch freezes in about 15 minutes and later batches in 6 minutes or less.
Peak hourly figures describe ideal conditions. The 1.6 L cylinder is where the ice cream is actually made, and the hopper refills it, so busy periods depend on how quickly the mix refreshes. Think of the hourly figure as an upper limit rather than a typical rate.
Cooling and ambient temperature
A compressor-based machine works like a small freezer, and it needs air to carry the heat away. VEVOR gives an operating range of 5 to 32°C (41 to 89.6°F). Leave space around the vents, as the manual describes, and keep the machine away from heat sources.
Controls and cleaning
The touch panel offers automatic cooling, a pre-cooling function, timer settings and one-click cleaning. The display shows production time and the remaining quantity. VEVOR says the raised design reduces how much the user has to bend down. Auto-clean routines are helpful, but food-contact parts such as the cylinder and dispenser still need regular manual cleaning and sanitising according to the manual and local food-safety rules.
Materials
The body is SUS201 stainless steel, and the cylinder that contacts the mix is described as food-grade SUS304 stainless steel. Stainless steel is rust-resistant and easy to wipe down, which suits a kitchen where cleaning is frequent.
What you can make
Soft serve goes into cones, waffles and cakes, and onto desserts. VEVOR names ice cream shops, cafes, drink bars and small food stalls as the intended uses. It makes a single flavour, so a second flavour means cleaning or a second machine.
Size and weight
The machine measures about 22.8 x 8.3 x 27.6 inches (58 x 21 x 70 cm) and weighs 101.8 lb (about 46 kg). It is a two-person lift, and the counter has to carry that weight.
What to check before you buy
- Power: the compressor, listed at 1000W, calls for a suitable outlet. Check the voltage and circuit in the manual, and local electrical rules.
- Counter space and strength: allow for 46 kg plus clearance for airflow, and for the height of a cone and cup.
- Mix: use a soft serve mix that suits the machine, per the manual.
- Demand: compare hourly output with the number of servings you expect at your busiest.
- Cleaning: schedule time for disassembly, cleaning and sanitising each day.
- Local rules: food businesses may need permits and inspections.
