The RoyalCraft White Fluted 3-Drawer Dresser is a low, wide chest of drawers with vertical grooves across the front. RoyalCraft positions it as a bedroom dresser, but also as a wide nightstand or a storage cabinet for a living room.
Size and layout
The overall dimensions are 31.5 inches wide, 15.7 inches deep and 29.5 inches high (about 80 x 40 x 75 cm). The unit weighs 50.7 lb (about 23 kg). Each drawer is listed at 25.4 inches long, 11.3 inches wide and 3.9 inches high. At under 4 inches deep, the drawers suit folded T-shirts, underwear, socks, chargers and small items better than bulky knitwear.
At 29.5 inches high, it is close to the height of many beds, which is why RoyalCraft says it works as a wide nightstand. The top surface is rated for 150 lb, and each drawer for 30 lb.
Materials and finish
RoyalCraft lists the body as P2-grade MDF with particle board. MDF is medium-density fibreboard, made from wood fibres pressed with resin. It takes paint smoothly, which suits the fluted front. The brand says the paint meets an ASTM standard for eco-friendly coatings and describes the dresser as odourless. It also describes the finish as water-resistant and easy to wipe clean.
As with most painted fibreboard furniture, a wipe-clean surface is not the same as waterproof. Wiping up spills promptly is a sensible habit, and the manual will say what cleaning products are suitable.
Drawers and stability
RoyalCraft says the drawers run silently and have a double anti-drop design to keep them on their runners. It also lists a thicker base plate with a damping design to improve load-bearing capacity.
For tip-over protection, the dresser comes with anti-tip straps. Anchoring a dresser to the wall is standard advice for any chest of drawers, particularly in homes with children. Follow the instructions for the right fixings for your wall type.
Placement ideas
RoyalCraft says the dresser can sit in a bedroom, a living room or even a bathroom. Its 15.7-inch depth fits in narrow spots such as hallways, beside a sofa or under a window. The company also notes that it makes a series. The same fluted style comes as a full-height nightstand and as 3-, 5- and 6-drawer cabinets, so pieces can be matched.
Assembly and support
The dresser requires assembly. RoyalCraft invites customers to get in touch with questions and lists a one-year free replacement service.
Who it suits
It suits anyone wanting a compact fluted-front dresser for a small bedroom, a hallway or a living room, or a wide stand to hold a lamp, photos and electronics beside the bed.
