The PurComfy Baby Diapers Essential Kit is a multi-part starter set for the first weeks and months of diapering. It combines newborn and Size 1 diapers with three different kinds of wipes, so one order covers changes at home and out and about. It is built for new parents, and it is often chosen as a baby-shower gift.
What's in the kit
PurComfy lists 712 pieces in total:
- 96 Size N diapers, for newborns under 10 lb (about 4.5 kg).
- 104 Size 1 diapers, for babies of roughly 8-14 lb (about 3.6-6.4 kg).
- 360 water wipes, in six packs of 60.
- 32 travel wipes, in four small packs of 8.
- 120 dry wipes, in two packs of 60.
The weight ranges overlap on purpose. Babies grow at different rates, and many move into Size 1 within the first month or two, so having both sizes avoids buying a second set straight away.
How the diapers are put together
PurComfy describes a blowout barrier, dual leak-guard leg barriers and front and back waistbands. These are common features in modern disposable diapers: the leg cuffs and waistbands are there to hold liquid and mess in, and the wider back waistband is aimed at the leaks that newborns are known for. A wetness indicator, typically a line that changes colour, tells you when a change is due without having to open the diaper.
The three kinds of wipes
Water wipes. The brand says these are 99.9% purified water and 0.1% other ingredients, with a surface it calls 1.6 times softer. They are the everyday wipe for diaper changes.
Travel wipes. The small 8-count packs are sized for a diaper bag, a coat pocket or a car glovebox.
Dry wipes. These measure 8 x 8 inches (about 20 x 20 cm). PurComfy says they can be used dry or dampened, for changes, mealtime cleanups or wiping a nose, and that they are biodegradable. They are a disposable alternative to small reusable cloths.
Materials and what's left out
PurComfy says everything in the kit is made with plant-based fibres and is free from parabens, dyes and fragrances. If your family has particular sensitivities, the full ingredient list on the packaging is the place to check, and a paediatric nurse or doctor can advise on anything specific to your baby.
Who it suits
It suits expecting parents building a first supply, and gift-givers who want one practical item rather than several small ones. It is less useful if your baby is already heavier than the Size 1 range, as the set stops at that size.
What to check before you buy
- Your baby's size: the kit covers Size N and Size 1 only. Check the weight ranges against your baby's current weight and expected growth.
- Quantity: 712 pieces takes up a lot of room. Confirm you have space, and how quickly you expect to move up a size.
- Wipe types: the water, travel and dry wipes are different products. Make sure you will use all three.
- Preferences: if you use cloth diapers or a different wipe style, this set may overlap with what you already have.
- Packaging: check the expiry or best-before guidance, where shown, and the storage advice on the packs.
