The Momcozy AutoMeal FM03 is a countertop baby food maker that steams ingredients and blends them into puree in the same cup. It is meant for parents who make food at home when a baby starts on solids and want fewer pots, a blender and a steamer basket to wash up.

One cup for steaming and blending

Traditional home puree-making uses a steamer and a separate blender, with food moved between them. The AutoMeal does both in one vessel. Momcozy says you spend about three minutes on preparation, and the machine then steams and blends automatically in 18 to 25 minutes. For frozen ingredients, the brand says to extend the duration in Auto Mode. Steaming in the same cup also means any liquid collected during cooking stays with the food, which Momcozy says keeps water-soluble vitamins in the puree.

The cup holds 15 oz (about 440 ml), and the brand says it can prepare up to four servings at once, useful for batch cooking and freezing portions.

The six-blade design

Momcozy describes a six-blade "cyclone" system that it says gives even steaming and fine blending, and compares it with standard four-blade models. More blades, in general, help break food down more evenly, but the result still depends on the ingredients and the amount in the cup.

Three texture settings

The unit offers smooth, medium and coarse textures at one touch, adjusting blend time and power automatically. This lets you move from smooth purees for early feeding to chunkier food as a child gets used to textures. Always follow the guidance of your paediatrician or health visitor on when and how to introduce solids.

Cleaning

An Auto Self-Clean mode runs when you add water: the blades rotate while steam rinses the inside. The cup is fully detachable, and a soft cleaning brush is included for deeper cleaning. Momcozy lists BPA-free, food-grade materials.

Size, power and support

The unit measures 7.1 x 12.2 x 9.8 inches (about 18 x 31 x 25 cm) and weighs 5.1 lb (about 2.3 kg). Momcozy notes it is for 120 V US outlets only, and lists error codes: E0 means a voltage mismatch and E1 means the cup is unlocked and needs to be re-aligned until it clicks. The brand includes a one-year warranty, and says replacement accessories are available through its customer service.

Who it suits

It suits parents who plan to make several meals of puree at a time and have counter space. If you only prepare small amounts occasionally, a simple steamer and hand blender may be enough.

What to check before you buy

  • Voltage: the listing says 120 V US outlets only. Check this against your mains supply.
  • Counter and storage space: it is a fairly large appliance.
  • Batch size: decide whether 15 oz suits the portions you make.
  • Cleaning routine: read the manual on the self-clean mode, blade handling and descaling.
  • Spare parts: check how to obtain replacement parts.
