The imarku TU3 is a set of three frying pans in 8, 10 and 12-inch sizes. Each one combines a stainless steel body with a ceramic nonstick surface, so you get some of the searing ability of steel with easier food release. It is aimed at cooks who want one set to cover everything from a single egg to a family dinner.
What "hybrid" nonstick means
Most nonstick pans rely on a smooth coating over bare aluminium. imarku's hybrid design is different: the stainless steel surface is laser-etched with a honeycomb pattern, and a ceramic nonstick coating is locked into it. The idea is that the raised steel takes the contact with utensils and the heat, while the recessed ceramic helps food release. imarku says the coating is free from PFAS, PTFE and PFOA.
Ceramic nonstick behaves differently from conventional coatings. The brand recommends preheating on medium for one to two minutes and adding about a teaspoon of oil. As a general rule, ceramic surfaces last longer on moderate heat than on a roaring burner.
Tri-ply construction and heat spread
The body is tri-ply: a 304 stainless steel interior, a 1.3 mm aluminium core and a magnetic 430 stainless steel exterior. Aluminium conducts heat quickly, so the core spreads it across the base and up the sides, which typically reduces hot spots. The steel layers add strength and, in the case of the outer 430 layer, make the pan magnetic.
imarku gives the total thickness as 2.5 mm and says this resists warping better than a standard 1.5 mm pan. Thicker bodies generally stay flatter when moved between heat levels, and a flat base matters for contact on induction and glass-ceramic cooktops.
Three sizes, three jobs
- 8-inch: imarku suggests solo eggs, omelettes and sides.
- 10-inch: the everyday size, for chicken breast, fish fillets and sautéed vegetables.
- 12-inch: large enough, says imarku, for two steaks or a batch of burgers.
Having all three means you can match the pan to the portion, which generally cooks more evenly than crowding a small pan or spreading a little food across a big one.
Cooktops, oven and handle
The magnetic base works on induction, gas, electric and halogen cooktops. The pans are oven-safe to 500°F (260°C), so a steak can be seared on the hob and finished in the oven. The long stainless steel handle is hollow and curved, and imarku says it stays cooler in use. Stainless handles do still warm up over time, so keep an oven mitt nearby, especially after oven use.
Size and weight
The listing gives the package as about 7.9 x 7.9 x 2.3 inches and 7.4 lb for the set. The pans stack by size, which helps with cupboard space. imarku backs the set with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects; it says normal wear, misuse and accidental damage are not covered.
Who it suits
It suits households that want a matched set of frying pans, cooks moving to induction, and anyone who likes to finish dishes in the oven. It is less suited to people who want a pan they can use at very high heat all the time, since ceramic coatings generally prefer moderate temperatures.
What to check before you buy
- Your cooktop: the magnetic base suits induction, but confirm the size of your burner against the pan bases.
- Lids: the listing does not mention lids, so check what is in the box.
- Utensils: check the manual on which utensils protect the coating.
- Cleaning: the manual will say whether hand washing or dishwasher cleaning is advised.
- Storage: three pans take cupboard or drawer space, and the handles are long.
- Warranty: read what the lifetime defect warranty covers.
