The Eureka PowerSpeed Anti-Tangle E2 is a bagless upright vacuum built with pet hair in mind. Its brush roll is designed to stop long hair and fur from wrapping around it, and at 12 pounds (about 5.4 kg) it's light enough to carry between floors. It handles carpet, rugs and hard floors, with tools on board for stairs and upholstery.
The anti-tangle brush roll
On many vacuums, long hair and pet fur wind around the brush roll until you cut them off, and a wrapped roll picks up less. The E2's brush roll is built to prevent that wrap, sending long hair and pet fur straight into the dust cup instead, so suction stays strong pass after pass. That's the main reason Eureka aims it at homes with dogs, cats or long-haired family members.
Motor and floor types
The E2 has a 960 W motor. Motor wattage measures how much power the vacuum draws rather than suction itself, but it gives a sense of the class of machine: this is a full-size household upright, not a lightweight stick vacuum.
Five brush roll height settings adjust it to the floor:
- Higher for thick carpet, so the vacuum pushes more easily.
- Lower for hardwood, tile, laminate and other bare floors, for a closer clean.
Area rugs and wall-to-wall carpet fall in between, depending on how deep the pile is.
Weight and handling
At 12 pounds, the E2 is easy to carry up the stairs and from room to room, which matters most in a multi-storey home. Its listed dimensions are about 13.8 x 13.4 x 44.5 inches (35 x 34 x 113 cm), so it stands a little under 4 feet tall in a closet or corner.
Dust cup and filter
The extra-large 2.6-litre dust cup holds more before it needs emptying, and it empties with one touch. Because the vacuum is bagless, there are no bags to replace.
The foam filter rinses clean under water; let it dry fully before refitting it. Eureka also suggests emptying the dust cup after each use, which keeps the vacuum fresher, with less lingering pet smell. With any bagless vacuum, emptying the cup straight into a garbage bag or outdoor bin helps keep dust from drifting back into the room.
Tools on board
Three tools ride on the vacuum, so they're always at hand:
- a pet turbo brush for lifting hair from sofas and pet beds;
- a crevice tool for tight corners, stairs and along baseboards;
- a dusting brush for upholstery and furniture.
The hose extends to reach high and low spots, such as cobwebs near the ceiling or the gap under a sofa.
Who it suits
It suits homes with dogs, cats or long-haired family members, a mix of carpet, rugs and hard floors, and stairs where a lighter upright is easier to carry.
What to check before you buy
- Reach: the listing doesn't give cord or hose lengths; check them against your room sizes and stairs.
- Storage space: about 44.5 inches tall when upright.
- Filter upkeep: how often to wash the foam filter and whether replacement filters are easy to find.
- Floor care: whether the brush roll can be turned off for delicate rugs or polished floors.
- Noise: look up the noise level if that matters in your home.
