The Dreo DR-HCF004 is a 52-inch ceiling fan with a built-in light, finished in black. It moves air with a DC motor, offers six speeds, and is operated from a remote. It combines cooling and room lighting in a single fixture for bedrooms, living rooms and similar spaces.

Why a DC motor matters

Many older ceiling fans use AC motors. DC motors are typically more energy efficient, quieter and offer finer speed steps. Dreo says this fan uses up to 50% less energy, citing FTC certification, and lists airflow of up to 5,189 CFM, with an average of 3,474 CFM. CFM, or cubic feet per minute, measures how much air the fan moves, so a higher number generally means a stronger breeze at the top speed.

Quiet running

Dreo describes the lowest setting as a whisper-like 31 dB breeze. For comparison, a quiet bedroom is often around 30 dB, so that figure is low. Noise also depends on how securely the fan is mounted and how balanced the blades are, which is why careful installation matters.

Light output and colour temperature

The light is listed at 2400 lumens, which Dreo equates to a 24W bulb. It has six brightness levels from 5% to 100% and five colour temperature settings from 2700K to 6500K. Lower values give a warm, yellowish light; higher values give a cooler, bluish-white. A one-touch bedtime light setting provides a low glow. A crystal-style light cover finishes the fixture.

Remote, timers and memory

The remote controls fan speed, light brightness and colour temperature. It also sets timers of 1, 4 or 8 hours, lets you mute the button sounds, and the fan remembers your last settings. A remote is useful on a high ceiling, where a pull chain is awkward.

Reversible blades for summer and winter

A one-touch reverse mode changes the direction of the blades. In summer, the fan usually runs so that air is pushed down for a cooling breeze. In winter, running it in reverse at low speed typically draws air upward and helps mix warm air near the ceiling. The blades have wood-grain and solid colours.

Installation

The fan arrives pre-assembled, and Dreo says installation takes four steps and around 20 minutes. It measures 52 x 52 x 13.2 inches and weighs 9.2 lb. Dreo lists FTC, ETL and DOE certifications. Ceiling fans are wired into household electrics, so follow local electrical codes and the manual, and use a licensed electrician if you are unsure.

Who it suits

It suits bedrooms and mid-sized living spaces where a single fixture should provide both air movement and adjustable light.

What to check before you buy

  • Ceiling height: the fan is 13.2 inches tall, so check you have enough clearance below it.
  • Room size: a 52-inch fan is usually matched to medium-sized rooms.
  • Mounting: confirm your ceiling box is rated to support a fan.
  • Wiring: check that your wiring suits a fan with a separate light control.
  • Light cover and bulbs: read the manual on cleaning and care.
