The CASABREWS 3700 Pro is a compact semi-automatic espresso machine with a stainless steel body and a built-in milk frother. It is designed for small kitchens and offices where you want espresso, lattes and cappuccinos without a large machine. Here is what its specs mean.

Pump, motor and pressure gauge

CASABREWS lists a 20-bar Italian pump and a 1350W motor. The 20-bar figure is the pump's rated maximum. Espresso is typically extracted at around 9 bar at the coffee, so the grind, the amount of coffee and the tamp matter more to the shot than the headline number.

A built-in pressure gauge shows the pressure while you brew, so you can see what a change of grind or tamp does. The brand notes that a grind that is too coarse, too little coffee or loose tamping can lead to low pressure and a weak shot.

The automatic milk frother

Instead of a manual steam wand alone, this model has a built-in frother. CASABREWS says it whips milk into a light, creamy foam and lets you make milk drinks at the touch of a button. An automatic frother is generally easier for beginners than a manual wand, though it gives you less control over texture.

The brand gives two cleaning notes. Before a cappuccino or latte, purge residual water from the milk frothing tube. After frothing, press the latte button for five seconds to run a cleaning cycle, which clears milk from the frother so it doesn't dry and block. An initial self-cleaning run is also advised.

Tank, drip tray and size

The transparent tank holds 49 oz (about 1.4 litres) and is detachable. The drip tray lifts out for rinsing. The machine measures about 13.0 x 8.5 x 12.1 inches (33 x 22 x 31 cm) and weighs 8.6 pounds (about 3.9 kg), which makes it easy to move on and off a shelf.

A water shortage reminder lights all the buttons green when the tank is low. CASABREWS also says to remove the rubber plug at the bottom of the tank before first use.

What is in the box

The listing names: the espresso machine, the milk frother, a water tank, one-cup and two-cup filters, a 51 mm portafilter and a coffee spoon. CASABREWS lists a one-year warranty. A separate grinder is not included, so you need espresso-ready ground coffee or your own grinder.

Who it suits

It suits people with limited counter space who want milk drinks with minimal fuss, and who are happy to learn to dial in grind and tamp. It is less of a fit for anyone who wants full manual control of the steam wand or a machine with its own grinder.

What to check before you buy

  • Size: measure the space, including height for removing the tank and the portafilter.
  • Portafilter size: the 51 mm basket affects which accessories fit.
  • Grinding: plan for a separate grinder or pre-ground espresso coffee.
  • Frother care: build the cleaning step into every milk drink.
  • Power: 1350W, so check the outlet and circuit.
  • Upkeep: check the manual on descaling and cleaning the machine.
