The Blackview SE80 is a smart deadbolt that also contains a camera and a video doorbell. Instead of fitting a separate lock, doorbell and camera, one unit on the front door handles all three. This page explains what each feature means in daily use and what to confirm before fitting it.
Five ways to unlock
Blackview lists five ways to open the door: fingerprint recognition, the Blackview Security app, Alexa or Google voice assistants, a keypad, and a traditional key. The mix is useful because it keeps a mechanical fallback if the battery or Wi-Fi fails, and gives household members and guests different options. Voice unlocking on smart locks usually needs a spoken PIN set in the assistant, so read the manual before enabling it.
Camera and doorbell
The camera records at 3.5K, which Blackview says gives more detail than a standard 1080p doorbell. A 175° wide-angle view is meant to show a visitor from head to toe, and also parcels left at the foot of the door. You can talk to a visitor through a live stream on your phone and unlock remotely or set passcodes from the app.
Detection
Blackview says PIR and radar sensors work together with the camera and AI algorithms to tell people, pets and packages apart, with over 95% accuracy. The aim is fewer alerts triggered by falling leaves or passing movement. Accuracy figures are the brand's own and real results depend on placement and lighting.
Wi-Fi and chime
The lock connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which is common for battery devices because it reaches farther through walls. Check that your router offers a 2.4 GHz band. A Wi-Fi chime is included; Blackview says it extends signal coverage and cuts power consumption by around 10%.
Battery and storage
A 10,000 mAh rechargeable battery is listed for up to nine months of use, with a notification when the charge falls below 20%. In an emergency, a USB-C connector can supply temporary power to the lock. Real battery life varies with how often it is used and how much video it records.
The SE80 has 32 GB of local storage for continuous recording, so footage is stored on the device rather than a cloud service.
Installation
Blackview says it fits most standard US and Canadian deadbolt spacings and can be installed in about 15 minutes without drilling. The brand offers a 24-month warranty.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners and renters with a standard deadbolt door who want one device for entry and a view of the doorstep, and households that prefer local recording. It is less suited to doors with non-standard preparation, or to spots with weak 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
What to check before you buy
- Door: check the thickness, the deadbolt hole and the backset against the manual.
- Wi-Fi: confirm a strong 2.4 GHz signal at the door.
- Rules: if you rent or live in a condominium, check whether you may replace the lock or record outside.
- Privacy: consider your local rules on cameras that capture shared areas or neighbours.
- Charging: plan where and how you will recharge the battery.
- Safety: follow the manual and local codes for installation and keep a key available.
