The WOLFBOX MegaVolt24 Air combines three emergency tools in one case: a 12V jump starter, a tyre inflator and a power bank. It is meant to live in the boot or glovebox so that a flat battery or soft tyre doesn't leave you stranded.
What 4000A and 24,000 mAh mean
The 4000A figure is peak current: the most the unit can briefly deliver. It is a ceiling, not what an engine continuously draws, and larger engines need higher peaks. WOLFBOX says the unit can start a completely dead 12V battery on engines up to 10 litres of petrol or 10 litres of diesel, which covers most cars, SUVs and light trucks.
The 24,000 mAh battery stores energy for jump-starting and also works as a power bank. Capacity in milliamp-hours depends on voltage, so it isn't directly comparable between devices, but a figure this size typically charges a phone several times.
The built-in air compressor
The inflator has a 160 PSI maximum and moves 45 litres of air per minute, according to WOLFBOX. The brand says it takes 2 minutes 30 seconds to take a 315/70 R17 pickup tyre from 30 to 36 PSI, and 1 minute 20 seconds for a 275/70 R17 SUV tyre. It is described as suitable for tyres on pickups and smaller vehicles. Real times vary with temperature and battery charge. Check the pressure on your vehicle's tyre placard, not the maximum.
Charging and power-bank use
The USB-C port supports 65W, and there are USB-A ports at 12W and 18W, plus a 160W continuous DC output. WOLFBOX says the unit recharges fully in as little as two hours, and the same ports power tablets, phones and similar devices. A fast recharge matters for an emergency tool that may be used and then needed again soon.
Light and ruggedness
A 400-lumen LED flashlight has distress, strobe and high-beam modes. The brand rates the case IP64, meaning it is protected against dust and splashing water, and says it operates down to -4°F (-20°C). Ten types of protection are listed. Lithium batteries lose output in the cold, so keeping the unit charged and indoors in a hard winter helps.
Size
It measures about 2.2 x 5.3 x 9.4 inches (5.6 x 13.5 x 24 cm), so it is slim enough for a glovebox or door pocket.
Who it suits
It suits drivers who commute, travel or park outdoors in cold weather, and anyone who wants a single device for jump-starting, tyre top-ups and charging phones.
What to check before you buy
- Engine size and type: confirm that your engine sits within the stated 10 L petrol or diesel limit and that your battery is 12V.
- Tyre fit: check that the nozzle and hose reach your valves, and that the inflator suits your tyre size.
- Charge level: lithium jump starters need topping up every few months. Check how often the manual recommends.
- Cable and clamp connection: follow the manual for polarity and order, and never use a damaged unit.
- What's in the box: confirm the jumper cables, charging cable and carry case.
