The TOPDON ArtiDiag800 BT (AD800BT) is a handheld automotive diagnostic tool. It reads fault codes from the car's computers over the OBD2 port, shows live data, and offers a set of maintenance resets. It connects through a small Bluetooth dongle, so the tablet-style unit can be used away from the port.
What full-system diagnosis means
A basic code reader looks mostly at the engine. A full-system scanner can also reach other control modules. TOPDON lists the engine (ECM), ABS, airbag, steering angle sensor, diesel particulate filter, EVAP, tyre pressure monitoring, battery management and electronic parking brake systems, among others. You can read and clear codes, turn off related warning lights, view freeze-frame data and watch live data as text or merged graphs. Which systems appear depends on the make, model and year.
An important limit
TOPDON states that this is not a bi-directional scanner and that Active Test is not available. Bi-directional tools can command components, such as running a pump, to test them. Here, the tool reads and resets but doesn't send those commands.
28 reset services
The tool offers guided access to 28 maintenance services, including:
- oil, steering angle, electronic parking brake and tyre pressure resets
- injector coding and steering angle calibration
- ABS bleeding and DPF regeneration
- battery, throttle, headlight and gearbox matching
- EGR adaption, tooth learning and sunroof initialization
The listing notes that anti-theft matching applies only to Asian cars with low-grade immobiliser systems, and that menus vary by make, model and year.
Wireless and software
The Bluetooth 4.0 dongle has a working range of about 33 feet (10 m). AutoVIN identifies the vehicle and picks the right software, though TOPDON says it doesn't work on every car, and you can enter the VIN manually. The tool has 32 GB of storage and runs on Android 10. TOPDON says updates are provided over Wi-Fi for the life of the tool, and that it provides FCA gateway access via Autoauth.
Vehicle coverage
TOPDON says it works on 96 vehicle brands and on OBDII-equipped vehicles built after 1996. Coverage varies, so confirm your make, model and year with TOPDON.
In the box
The listing includes the diagnostic tool, the VCI dongle, a protective case, a power adapter, a USB-C cable, a user manual and a password letter.
Who it suits
It suits home mechanics and small garages that want more than a basic code reader, especially for resets after maintenance. It is not a replacement for a bi-directional professional tool.
What to check before you buy
- Your vehicle: check that your make, model and year are covered, and which resets are supported.
- Functions needed: if you need active tests, this model doesn't offer them.
- Wi-Fi: updates need a network connection.
- Warranty and support: TOPDON lists a 1-year warranty and a return window; read the terms.
- Safety: follow the repair manual before resetting safety systems such as brakes and airbags.
