The Povasee A6 is a portable 12V jump starter that also works as a tire inflator, a power bank and a flashlight. It is meant for the driver who wants one emergency unit in the car for a flat battery or a soft tire, instead of carrying separate devices.

What 5000A peak current means

Povasee rates the A6 at 5000 amps of peak current and says it can start 12V vehicles with engines up to 9 litres petrol or 8 litres diesel. Peak current is a short-burst figure, so it is best used as a rough guide to capability rather than a sustained output. Larger engines and cold weather generally demand more from a jump starter, so matching the unit to your engine size matters.

Povasee also says that if the battery voltage is below 9V, pressing the "RST" button can help the engine to restart. The brand quotes up to 60 starts per charge and more than 1,500 recharge cycles, with about 24 months of standby.

The built-in air compressor

The inflator is rated at 150 PSI and 35 L/min. Povasee says it can raise a car tire to 20 PSI in about two minutes and run for around 25 minutes. It comes with four nozzles and four preset modes for cars, motorcycles, bicycles and balls. An auto-stop function halts inflation at the pressure you set, and the LCD shows remaining power and status.

The brand advises against running the pump continuously. When the compressor gets hot, let it cool for a few minutes before carrying on.

Protection features

Povasee lists 10 protections, including reverse polarity, reverse charge, over-discharge, short circuit, over-charge, over-current and over-heat. The A6 also uses a honeycomb-style heat dissipation design, and the brand gives an operating range of -22°F to 140°F (-30°C to 60°C). Even with these features, always follow the manual and your vehicle owner's guide when connecting the clamps.

Other functions

Beyond starting and inflating, the A6 offers a flashlight with an SOS signal, a tire pressure gauge, and power bank output that can also run 12V accessories. It recharges via USB-C.

Size and what's in the box

The unit measures about 1.9 x 4.2 x 7.7 in (roughly 5 x 11 x 20 cm) and weighs 1.5 lb (about 0.7 kg). The box contains the jump starter with compressor, a smart jumper cable, a USB-C cable, a pump hose, four air nozzles, a user manual and a 24-month warranty. A storage case is also part of the package.

Keeping it ready

Povasee advises charging fully on first use, starting the car only when charge is above 75%, and recharging every two to three months to maintain the battery. This is typical advice for lithium jump starters, which lose charge slowly in storage.

Who it suits

It suits drivers of cars, light trucks and motorcycles within the stated engine sizes who want a compact emergency kit that also tops up tire pressure.

What to check before you buy

  • Engine size and type: compare your engine with the 9L petrol / 8L diesel limits.
  • Battery system: it is for 12V vehicles only.
  • Space: check that the unit and case fit in your boot or glovebox.
  • Charging habit: plan to top it up every few months.
  • Pump limits: the compressor needs rest periods during longer inflation.
  • Tire needs: check the pressure your tires and bikes require.
