The Povasee A20 is a portable lithium jump starter, a compact battery pack that can start a vehicle with a flat 12-volt battery without a second car. It is rated at 2000 amps peak and also works as a USB power bank and a torch.
What 2000A peak means
Peak amps describe the brief maximum current the unit can deliver, not the sustained output. Povasee says the A20 can start gasoline engines up to 8 litres and diesel engines up to 6.5 litres, and that one charge can provide up to 40 jump starts. Diesels draw more current than petrol engines, which is why the diesel limit is lower. Actual results depend on the engine, the battery's condition and the temperature.
Vehicles it is listed for
The listing says it suits 12V vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, RVs, tractors, ATVs, UTVs and lawnmowers. It is not for 24V systems. Check your vehicle's battery voltage and engine size against the listed limits.
Display
Instead of a few indicator lights, the A20 has a 3-inch display that shows remaining power and working status. Povasee presents this as an advantage over models that give only a rough idea of charge. A clear reading is handy because a jump starter that has been sitting in a glovebox may be low.
Safety features
Povasee lists 10 protection systems, including reverse polarity, reverse charge, over-discharge, short circuit, over-charge, over-current, over-heat and spark resistance. Smart jumper cables are included. Operating temperatures are listed as -22°F to 140°F (about -30°C to 60°C). Always follow the manual and your vehicle's handbook for connection order and use.
Power bank and light
The unit has a 74Wh capacity as a power bank, with two USB outputs, one of which supports QC 3.0 fast charging. It includes a 600-lumen LED light with flashlight, strobe and SOS modes, which can serve as a warning light at the roadside.
In the box
Povasee lists the jump starter, smart jumper cables, a USB-A to USB-C cable (no adapter), a carrying case, a user manual and a 36-month warranty.
Size and who it suits
It measures about 8.3 x 3.5 x 1.6 inches (21 x 9 x 4 cm) and weighs 1.4 lb (about 0.6 kg), so it fits in a glovebox or a bag. It suits drivers who want a self-contained backup for a flat battery, and owners of seasonal equipment like boats and mowers.
What to check before you buy
- Engine size and type: compare with the 8L gasoline and 6.5L diesel limits.
- Voltage: confirm your vehicle is 12V.
- Charge level: lithium packs lose charge over time, so top it up periodically as the manual advises.
- Storage: note the temperature range, and avoid leaving it somewhere extremely hot.
- Connection: read the manual on terminal connection and polarity.
- Cable fit: check the clamps reach the battery on your vehicle.
