The ApexNav car stereo replaces the factory radio in a 2007-2011 Toyota Camry with a 9-inch touchscreen head unit that runs wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. It comes with a custom dash kit, wiring harnesses and a backup camera. Fit is the first thing to get right, so that's where this overview starts.
Fitment: check for JBL first
The dash kit is made for the 2007-2011 Toyota Camry in LE, SE, XLE and Hybrid trims. The unit does not support the factory JBL premium sound system that some Camrys of these years have. The listing's advice is to look for a JBL logo on your original radio before going further; if it's there, this unit isn't the right match.
Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto
Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto put your phone's navigation, music, calls and messages on the car's screen without a cable. This unit connects over Bluetooth and built-in Wi-Fi. In wireless setups, Bluetooth typically handles pairing, and Wi-Fi carries the screen and audio.
If several drivers share the car, the unit may keep reconnecting to one phone. The listing's tip is to turn off auto-connect in the Bluetooth settings so you can switch phones easily.
A Linux system instead of Android
Many aftermarket head units run Android. This one uses an automotive Linux system, which ApexNav says boots in about 3 seconds after you start the engine. The trade-off is that it's a phone-mirroring unit: it can't download apps of its own, so navigation and music come from your phone. While parked, it also supports screen mirroring.
Screen, sound and radio
The 9-inch QLED touchscreen is fully laminated, meaning there's no air gap between the glass and the display, which generally reduces reflections. Its resolution is 1280 x 720, and ApexNav describes it as anti-glare for bright sunlight. There's also AM/FM radio and a DSP equalizer for adjusting the sound.
Backup camera
A waterproof 1080P AHD backup camera with a 170° wide-angle view is included. AHD (analogue high definition) carries an HD picture over a standard video cable. The rear view switches on automatically when you shift into reverse. As with any backup camera, use it together with your mirrors and a look over your shoulder.
Installation and what's in the box
The kit includes the head unit with its custom frame, a power cable, an RCA cable, a microphone, two USB cables, the rear-view camera, a reversing control cable and a trim removal tool. The plug-and-play harnesses are designed to keep the original steering wheel controls. If the steering wheel buttons don't work at first, ApexNav offers 24/7 support with pin-wiring guidance. The unit weighs 3.6 lb (about 1.6 kg).
Installing a head unit typically means removing dash trim, connecting harnesses and routing the camera cable to the back of the car. Many owners do it themselves; others use a car audio installer.
Who it suits
It suits owners of a 2007-2011 Camry without the JBL system who want wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, a bigger screen and a backup camera, and who are happy to run apps from their phone.
